Emergency veterinary care
WHO IT IS FOR:
The Emergency Care Service is the first point of contact at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The services provided by the unit’s veterinary surgeons are intended for pet owners or private veterinary practitioners who refer their patients to OVUD for the diagnosis and treatment of specific conditions.
The service is intended for companion animals, both conventional and non-conventional, requiring emergency treatment. In emergency situations, once the animal has been stabilised, the Emergency Care Unit can carry out blood and biochemical tests, blood gas analysis, digital X-rays, rapid ultrasound scans and blood transfusions.
OPENING HOURS: MON - FRI | 8:30 am - 6:00 pm
EMERGENCY SERVICE: in the event of an emergency, the Emergency service is also open at weekends and on public holidays, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Overnight stays remain available, both under standard daytime arrangements and under special day and night arrangements.
VISITING HOSPITALISED PATIENTS: in the case of hospitalised pets undergoing specific treatments and therapies, owners accompanied by the attending veterinary surgeon may visit their pet from Monday to Friday between 14:00 and 15:00. On public holidays and at weekends, visiting hours are by arrangement.
