The VTH's cardiology service focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The service is offered to patients undergoing a first cardiological evaluation or that have been referred for a second opinion.

In order to detect any change in the heart's electrical/mechanical activity and identify potential treatment, patients may undergo standard ECG, chest X-ray, ecocardiography (2D, M-mode, Doppler).
Furthermore, the Cardiology unit provides the following services: Holter ECG and cardiological evaluations for breed screening to detect and prevent the transmission of inherited heart diseases, as well as preoperative cardiological evaluation.

The unit's staff is composed as follows:

  • Prof. Carlo Guglielmini (Head of Unit)
  • Prof. Helen Poser
  • Dr. Carlotta Valente

An appointment is required to access cardiology services.
