Neurology
Neurology services are intended for companion animals. In particular, these services are either provided to VTH's patients in critical conditions or prior appointment. The Neurology unit works alongside local practitioners who wish to receive a second opinion or for referral purposes.
VTH's neurological services include examinations of a clinical nature, such as neurological examinations. Additionally, the unit also provides diagnostic services, such as digital radiology and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), electrodiagnostic testing (e.g. electromyography - EMG), nerve conduction velocity (NCV) test and audiometric testing (B.A.E.R.) to diagnose unilateral or bilateral hearing loss; the services also include collection of cerebrospinal fluid for testing.
The Neurology unit also performs spinal neurosurgery procedures.
The unit's staff is composed as follows:
- Prof. Marco Bernardini (Head of Unit)
- Dr. Alessia Valentini
