Veterinary Anatomical Pathology

The Veterinary Anatomical Pathology unit is responsible for carrying out morphological and immunological investigations. Through cytological samples and biopsies, it helps establish a diagnosis, and pinpoint possible treatments.
Moreover, the Veterinary Anatomical Pathology unit performs post-mortem necropsy examinations to determine the animal's cause of death.

The pathological, cytological, histological and flow cytometric services are available to pet owners, including after their pet has been admitted to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.  The unit's services are also available to self-employed professionals and public and private bodies.

The unit's staff is composed as follows:

  • Prof. Valentina Zappulli (Head of Unit)
  • Prof. Laura Cavicchioli
  • Prof. Massimo Castagnaro
  • Prof. Maria Elena Gelain
